Kinnowcare
The first 30 days, one step at a time

You don't have to figure this out alone. Let's start with what matters right now.

One question, and we'll show you the five things that matter most today. Everything else can wait.

The five things that matter today

The 30-day guide

Everything is optional, and nothing has to happen today. Items marked time-sensitive lose value if they wait.

You don't have to do all of this - and you don't have to do it alone. Every item says who to call and why it matters. Tap any item for the details.

Who can actually help

Real organizations, real phone numbers. Most are free. Start with the ones matching what you need most. Know a resource that should be here? Email christian@kinnowcare.com.

Where the money stands

Not a budget - a crisis picture. How long you can last, what's coming, what must never lapse, and what can shrink. Nothing here leaves this page.

Call log

Billing disputes are won by whoever wrote it down. Every call: who, when, what they promised.

Share the load

One person can't carry this. Put a name next to every task - research on caregiver burnout is unambiguous: unassigned tasks don't get done, and one person quietly absorbs them all.

No tasks yet. Add one, or pull them in from the guide.
Keeping everyone updated is its own full-time job. A free site like CaringBridge gives you one place to post news so you're not making the same phone call twenty times, and a planner where friends can sign up for meals and rides without waiting to be asked.

If you've been through this

Kinnowcare is shaped by what families say was missing. If you've navigated a terminal diagnosis in your family, three quick questions would genuinely shape what gets built next.

Anonymous. No account, no email required, nothing shared with anyone. If you'd be open to a longer conversation, leave your email and we'll reach out.

For organizations

Kinnowcare is a free guide for families in the first 30 days after a terminal diagnosis. If your organization meets families in that window, you're welcome to hand it to them. Nothing to sign, nothing to pay, no catch.

The median hospice stay in the U.S. is about 17 days, against a benefit designed for six months. The most common reason is that nobody told the family what to ask for in week one. That's the week this guide fills.

What it covers

A 30-day checklist with word-for-word scripts for the calls nobody prepares families for. A directory of organizations that actually help, with real phone numbers. A money tracker that shows a family where they stand. A task splitter, so one person isn't quietly absorbing all of it.

What it isn't

It's not medical, legal, or financial advice. It's not a referral service. It doesn't replace anything your staff does. If anything, it moves in your direction: families who understand their options earlier ask about palliative care and hospice earlier.

What a partnership looks like

You hand it to families however fits what you already do. Then, if you're willing: let us send a short, anonymous survey to families 30 days out. Three questions. Everything we learn comes back to you.

Privacy

Nothing a family enters is stored or sent anywhere. No account, no analytics tied to any individual. We'd rather know less and be trusted more.

Who's behind it

Kinnowcare is built and maintained by Christian Gulak in Wisconsin, after watching someone he cares about go through this without a guide. The content is drawn from published caregiver research, and reviewed by people who do this work. It's early and it's independent.
